Our sweet, shy Minnie is looking for a quiet, patient home with an adult person or couple who will allow her to build trust in her own time. We don’t know what she experienced while living as a stray, but it has left her very wary of people. She will need someone who understands that love and patience may look different for her — there will be no rushing, only gentle encouragement, positive attention, and letting Minnie set the pace. Here in foster, we are seeing little glimpses of the girl she wants to become. When she wants attention, her little “nubbin” tail starts to wiggle, she’ll come closer, and she may even wait for a hand to reach down for a pat. She will often freeze while being touched, but importantly, she stays and squats down as she receives those gentle pats. We believe that in a calm home filled with kindness and consistency, Minnie will continue to blossom. Another calm, confident dog could also be wonderful for her — a canine mentor to show her that the world can be a safe and happy place.

🐾 Minnie’s Story

​

Minnie was found as a stray living near a church, where she was observed for three weeks before she was finally and successfully trapped. She came into our care on an end-of-2025 rescue flight, and we knew she was pregnant when she arrived. What we didn’t expect was for her to surprise us by giving birth three weeks earlier than anticipated! Her delivery was dramatic, and after two puppies were born, we made a trip to the doggy E.R. to make sure there weren’t any more babies on the way. At first, Minnie wanted nothing to do with her newborns, and we quickly realized we would need some help keeping the tiny pups fed. Thankfully, that was only for a few hours. Later that night, Minnie bonded with her babies, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. She became a wonderful, devoted momma. Now that her puppies are grown, it’s Minnie’s turn to find the loving, peaceful home where she can finally learn what it feels like to be safe, cherished, and loved simply for being herself.
