🐾 Her Story

Dixie came into care as a very shy little lady. Sadly, she was used for breeding (3 litters in 3 years) and we think she didn't get any exposure to other dogs and people outside of the home.

​

At first meeting she needs a moment to warm up but once she does she will be your best buddy. She enjoys her routine and goes straight into her crate for bedtime (with a treat of course) and sleeps through the night.  She would be fine with another dog big or small and currently enjoys her large breed foster sister Libby.  

 

Outside, Dixie is still working on her confidence. She’s leash reactive to other dogs and unfamiliar people — her way of saying, “This world is a little overwhelming for me right now!” She’ll need a patient, understanding home that can help her feel secure and continue working on her leash manners using positive reinforcement.

Dixie would do best in a calmer household, ideally with someone who has experience with reactive dogs or is willing to learn. A home with a secure yard for exercise would be a bonus, as she may feel safer playing there than walking in busy areas.

Dixie is spayed and ready to find her forever family. Her ideal home would be low-key, very patient adopters who can give her the time and support she needs to feel safe and secure and offer her controlled opportunities to gain confidence in the outside world.  In return, she’ll reward you with endless love, gentle cuddles, and the kind of loyalty only a once-timid heart can offer.
