RUBY - 5 yr old 12 lb spayed Pomeranian female

**** Needs a specialty home with an experienced handler who can show her leadership, rules and boundaries.

**** Will be very shy on first meeting and may require a couple visits.

**** Likes to be the boss over her foster brother.

Ruby is adorable- no doubt about it. She came from a breeder at 5 yrs old and has a full sister who will also be available for adoption soon. She is a very smart girl and this probably leads to her overthinking and being leary and pre-emptive barking at any new people coming into the home. Depending on how it's managed she can either be continuously barking or she can manage and quiet down. She is best when people don't force her to interact but allow her to be curious and check things out in her time. Because of this we are looking for a home where there are adults only or ones with older teens who can understand her needs.

She was not housetrained in her previous home and has come a long way with consistency from her foster mom, having only an occasional mistake inside the house. While she likes to boss her fun loving foster brother around she may be better with her sister (in case you are thinking of a pair) or better as an only dog.

Ruby needs a patient owner who will put the time into training and has dog behaviour experience. Adopters will need to tell us about your training abilities and plans for her training.

SDRBC offers a sleepover period, usually 1-2 weeks (longer if needed) to make sure of a match.

Ruby's adoption fee is $ 784.00 which includes her spay, full blood panel, DA2PP & Rabies shots, wormer, microchip. She recently had a dental (losing approx 14 teeth). All SDRBC dogs receive a free month of Trupanion pet insurance.

She is currently fostered in Maple Ridge BC.
