Max  - 9 month old 11 lb neutered male Italian greyhound, beagle,               chihuahua (guess) mixed breed

**** Family friendly

**** Needs a home with another calm, confident, well trained young dog

**** Shy at first meeting but can easily be coaxed with treats

Meet Max! This adorable 9 month old puppy was rescued from a hoarding situation with 70 dogs. He had never walked on a leash before and was so shy and fearful that he kept his tail tucked between his legs for the first 3 days in Canada.

He has come leaps and bounds in the last month in his foster home and is ready for adoption!

Max has learned how to walk on a leash. He can be very shy and skittish when meeting someone new or meeting other animals outside the house (he runs and hides behind his foster mom's legs) but if the person he is meeting gives him a treat he is very quick to make friends (he is VERY food motivated).

Inside the home, there is nothing Max loves more than to cuddle. He is the biggest snuggle bug and in his mind there is no such thing as "too close". He loves snuggling up under his foster family's chin when he sleeps.

His other favorite thing is his doggie foster brother-- Marley. Max is Marley's little shadow and everything that Marley does, Max does it too. From going on walks, to tearing up the stairs to wake Mama up after eating breakfast, to waiting patiently for dinner, to meeting other dogs, to taking naps snuggled together. They also love playing together and rip around the house running up and down stairs, jumping on beds and having a good wrestle.

Because of this we are looking to place Max in a home with a calm, confident, well trained, young dog who is in the 10-20 pound range.

Max is doing very well with housetraining and his only accidents have been over missed cues. He is still a puppy so he needs to be taken outside every few hours during the day. He can make it through the night without having to be taken out, but needs to go outside immediately when he gets up in the morning. A home where someone is home during the day so they can take him out frequently would be best.

Another puppy habit of his is chewing. He's always on the hunt for things to gnaw on. If it's on the ground, bed, chair or couch to him it means it's fair game.

Max loves kids, but can be skittish so a home with kids 10 or over would be best.

He has not been tested with cats but doesn't appear to have a high prey drive so would probably be fine with a dog friendly cat.

Max is currently fostered in Richmond, BC.

SDRBC allows a sleepover period (usually a week or two). Our goal is to make sure everyone agrees on the match.

Max's adoption fee is ($896.00 incl tax) and includes will go towards his blood panel including testing for heart worm and tick borne diseases (negative), neuter, da2pp and rabies shots, worming treatment, microchip and transport costs to BC from California.  All SDRBC dogs receive a free month of Trupanion pet insurance.
