RUBY
**** Calm & Patient home only with someone who can do training
**** Another dog in the home as a mentor dog
Ruby - 1-1/2 yr old 13lb Chihuahua mix spayed female
This adorable little girl attracts a crowd by her lookstic brindle beauty was brought to our attention when a vet in rural California tended to her after she was dropped off as a stray with a large open wound to her neck. Later we would come to believe she had most likely been in heat and was fought over by a group of males. Weeks later after she arrived the foster noted she had gained weight. After seeing a picture we knew she was pregnant. Not long after 3 beautiful babes arrived. She was a fantastic mother looking after their every need.
Observations of Rooney show us she is more leary of men and she takes longer to warm up to them. She can be reactive on leash to other dogs. Part of this we believe is due to being in protective mode with her babes, which is totally normal. She prefers her humans over other dogs. She is the most affectionate girl and would love to accompany you throughout your day. Her silly antics will keep you laughing. She is currently with Karen at Karma Farm and is amongst a pack of 11 dogs including one of her pups, Lulu. While she's not super interested in the other dogs, she still loves to play with Lulu like they are good friends. Rooney's best home will be one where she can be with her human, where she gets out to adventure and one where there will be lots of time for snuggles and love.
