Bernie is a great dog. He is eager to please and loves attention. A perfect day for him would be sleeping on the couch next to his owner and going on walks. He will bark at other dogs while on a leash but he loves his dog friends. He dislikes being in a crate and carrier but will travel in a carrier in the cabin on domestic flights. At home he will sleep in his bed in a cozy corner or on a pillow on the floor next to our bed. He will tolerate getting his teeth cleaned and his body groomed. We however put a muzzle on him when we groom his paws and legs.

He has a hypoallergenic diet because certain foods like chicken make his skin itchy.  Bernie was about 3-5 years old when we adopted him. Our vet says that he is a "young senior dog" so around 10 years old . We were told that he was from a California shelter but nothing more. We had him neutered after we adopted him and he had his teeth cleaned and some extractions last summer.

The perfect family/person would be someone who works from home or is home during the day. Because of some separation anxiety, a single family home would be best as not to disturb the neighbors.  A large yard is not necessary. Bernie does bark at other dogs, bikes and strangers on walks. 

 

Bernie's adoption fee of $300 will be donated to Small Dog Rescue BC Society by the owner.  Bernie has his current vaccinations and had a dental cleaning June 2024.
